How the import works

  1. 1. Export the questions

    In Jotform, get the JSON for your form's questions. Copy the whole response — it holds your labels, options, required flags and page breaks.

  2. 2. Paste it into HelloForms

    Open the importer, choose the Jotform tab and paste the JSON. Nothing is fetched from Jotform, so no API key or password ever leaves your hands.

  3. 3. Review, then create

    Every field arrives with a confidence badge and notes. Fix a label or type inline, untick anything you do not want, then create the form — the import will not run if a question would be lost.

What comes across

  • Question labels, help text and required flags
  • Short and long text, email, phone, number, website and address questions
  • Radio, checkbox, dropdown and yes/no options in their original order
  • Star ratings and scales with their range, and matrix rows and columns
  • Dates, times, file uploads and signatures
  • Page breaks, so a multi-page Jotform form stays multi-page
  • Show and hide conditions driven by a question's answer, as opt-in logic rules

What is listed as skipped

  • Payment questions — connect a payment gateway in HelloForms instead, so the money flows through your own account
  • Jotform widgets and CAPTCHA elements, which have no direct equivalent
  • The "Other" option on a choice question — add it as a normal option if you need it
  • Conditions that cannot be expressed as a field rule; the summary names each one so you can re-create it
  • Submissions already collected in Jotform — export those from Jotform as CSV

Questions about switching

Do I need to give HelloForms my Jotform login or API key?
No. You paste the JSON export yourself and HelloForms parses it. Nothing connects to your Jotform account, and the pasted export is not kept after the preview is built.
Can I import several forms?
Yes — repeat the paste for each form. Every import is listed in your import history, so you can pick up a review you started earlier.
What happens to my conditional logic?
Show and hide rules that depend on a question's answer are imported as logic candidates you tick to accept. Anything the parser cannot represent is named in the summary so you can rebuild it in the logic panel.
Will my existing submissions move?
No. The importer rebuilds the form, not its response history. Export your Jotform submissions as CSV and keep them alongside your new HelloForms responses.
What if the import gets a field wrong?
Every row is editable in the preview: change the type, fix the label, adjust the options or leave it out. The form is only created from what you confirm.
